I primarily treat anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders, trauma-related disorders, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Within OCD, I particularly enjoy working with individuals whose symptoms carry potential social stigmatization or shame. I have been trained by leaders in the areas of obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I also specialize in treating anxiety and grief related to climate change and other sociopolitical stressors. My research focuses on building a meaningful life in a changing climate, and I have worked with individuals experiencing both direct climate change impacts (such as wildfires) and indirect climate impacts (such as climate grief and anxiety). I conduct ongoing research in the area of climate impacts on mental health. I have extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals, and I am passionate about providing compassionate and affirmative care. Finally, I have considerable experience working with individuals from high-demand religious backgrounds and am dedicated to understanding and honoring your relationship to spirituality or religiosity.
Therapy is an active and collaborative process where we will 1. Build a working conceptualization of your challenges that honors your complexity as a human being, 2. Practice alternative approaches to working with your challenges in session, and 3. Help you apply these approaches outside of session to live a fulfilling life. I use the latest research in evidence-based practice to tailor treatment to your specific presenting concerns and lived experience.
